Most Commonly Asked Questions Regarding Counseling
Shouldn't I be able handle this by myself?
Society tells us we need to "have it all" while appearing to "have it all together", asking for help can be difficult. I encourage you to view therapy as a way to invest in yourself and your relationships to be better equipped for the future. Therapy is a proactive change in order to better yourself, your life and your relationships. It allows you to heal from past wounds, grow into the person you aspire to be and thrive in your life and relationships.

What happens in the first counseling session?
Great question! When you make the decision to begin counseling and therapy you take a huge step toward mental and emotional health for yourself and your relationships. I understand if you don't know what to expect, it can be a bit intimidating. Please know, I will do all I can to make you feel safe in the process of therapy and our therapeutic relationship. If you have any questions, please, ask.
Upon scheduling your first appointment, you will be sent a link to join the client portal where you will be able to sign consent forms, answer intake questions, schedule future appointments and view past appointments.
When you arrive, please have a seat in the waiting room and feel free to help yourself to a complimentary beverage.
At your scheduled appointment time, I will greet you and invite you into my office. Here you will share your story and we will begin to identify why you are seeking help. Our first session will primarily be a time to identify what brought you to therapy as well as to establish your goals for therapy. We will decide how often we will meet and what issues we will work on together. Remember, therapy is not a quick fix, but rather a rich process that requires time as well as a trusting relationship between us.
